I'm Aaron—husband, father of two girls, lifelong technology builder, and the person behind every piece that leaves the Bear State Craft workshop.
WHERE IT STARTED
It started at my dad's workbench.
Long before I knew what I wanted to make, my dad taught me what tools could do. He gave me room to be curious, showed me how effort changes a thing, and instilled a love of creativity and hard work.
The lesson wasn't that every project had to be perfect. It was that the work deserved your full attention.
That stayed with me. I built a career in IT and technology—solving complicated problems, building systems, and making things work. Woodworking scratches the same itch, but leaves behind something you can hold.
WHY THE DETAILS MATTER
“Do it well because the work deserves to be done well.”
Not because every object needs to be precious. Because care is a habit.
A cutting board should be used. A spoon should live beside the stove. A table should gather scratches, stories, and the evidence of a life lived around it. My job is to make sure each one begins that life honestly—and ready for the long haul.
A few things I won't negotiate.
The rules are simple enough to remember and demanding enough to matter.
Let the material speak.
Good wood already has a point of view. Design should reveal it, not shout over it.
Sweat the quiet details.
The softened edge, the balanced handle, the finish that feels right in your hand—those are the work.
